Football club – Now open to Year 2s

Friday’s after-school football club is now open to Year 2s as well and can be booked via sQuid.

23.09.22

Hello everyone,

I hope this week’s newsletter finds you all well.

We have had a really good week in school and children were very keen to share their achievements in our Friday celebration assembly today. We reflected on this week in school and children shared things they have learnt, what they have enjoyed and what they have found a bit tricky and needed to persevere with. Well done everyone – we are all very proud of your positive attitudes!

Forest Church Sunday 23rd September

Dear Friends,

We are really looking forward to Forest Church this coming Sunday (3pm, Battlefield Church/ 1403, SY4 3DB). We are hoping that people of all ages will come along. For the majority, we will park and meet at 1403 and then walk across the fields to the church, but to make it accessible for everyone, there is also the option of parking at the church itself.

As Autumn gets underway, we will be pressing apples and thinking about harvest- the afternoon will serve as the Harvest Celebration for the parish of Albrighton with Battlefield.

If you are hoping to join us, below are the instructions about timings, what to bring and how to get there….
What to bring

Please bring your own picnic and drink. There will definitely be freshly pressed apple juice available! Do wrap up warm and bring a blanket to sit on if you’d like to. It would also be a good idea to wear strong shoes and trousers- there are some nettles about, and the ground is uneven in places. Please don’t buy apples, but if you have any growing in your garden that you’d like pressed, do bring them along (they don’t have to be in beautiful condition!). It’s a good idea also to bring a container (4 pint milk bottles are best) to take your juice home in – I’ll bring some spares, and some spare apples – so even if you don’t have any, you can still take juice home.

The Plan

We will be flexible and we also want to keep things fairly informal. Here is an outline of the afternoon:

3pm Introduction, welcome and an opening prayer

3.15-3.45pm Activities, which will definitely include supervised apple pressing!

3.45pm A worship service in church

4pm Picnic Time

Directions

1403 is well signposted from the A49 heading north out of Shrewsbury- after taking the A49 (north) from Battlefield Roundabout, you quickly come to a mini roundabout- turn left here. After going under the bridge, turn right for 1403, or keep straight ahead for the church.

Caregivers are responsible for their children at all times. I will bring a First-Aid Kit and the Risk Assessment will be available to look at. We do have cover if it’s rainy so please don’t be put off by the weather!

Finally, there will be someone from the Diocese filming the event for a church conference – he may like to interview one or two of you, so watch out! The final film won’t have any names on without permission, and we are assuming consent to scenes of people engaging in the afternoon. If you do not consent to this, please let me know and I’ll make sure you’re not in the final film.

WIth thanks and blessings,

Hannah x

After-school clubs provision

Please remember to book your child into after-school clubs, so that registers can be prepared in advance of the clubs and staff know how many children are attending. We ask that children are collected promptly at 4:30pm please.

As we explained in our clubs letter last week, we are trialling a Sunset Club. This is in response to the summer term parent survey, which identified a need for this provision.  Take-up so far has been very low and it will not be viable for us to continue the club if numbers do not increase. The club runs from 4:30pm to 5:30pm Monday to Thursday and includes a hot snack and drink for only £4 per session per child.

Updated – A Service of Commemoration for Her Majesty The Queen, 6pm, Sunday 18th

Dear Friends,

On Sunday there will sadly now be NO service at Albrighton at 6pm, so those from that community are encouraged to go along to Leaton. Some of you will know already, but there is also a joint service on Sunday morning in Bomere Heath, at the Methodist Chapel.
This means that our final list is as below:

We look forward to welcoming you as we gather locally to say farewell, and commend Her Late Majesty to God’s goodness.
Blessings,

Uniform Expectations

Her Majesty The Queen 21 April 1926 to 8 September 2022

It is with great sadness that we hear of the death of Her Majesty the Queen.

We join with people from across the world in sending our condolences and deepest sympathy to the Royal Family at this very sad time.

In school this morning, we held a special worship to allow children and staff to share some of their memories of Her Majesty. We joined in prayer to pray for her family and express our thanks for everything she gave to our nation, before observing two minutes silence.
