Sowing Cress Seeds

Growing Cress
The children watched a time lapse of cress filmed growing over a week. They observed the little white shoot popping out of the seed, the roots growing and the green tips turning into leaves. After 9 days however, with no water the cress started to droop and no longer grow.

We talked about what cress needs to grow; moisture (water), light and used cotton wool as a soil replacement.

The children then started the process of growing their own cress…they are excited to see the changes.
