Weekly News 16.06.23

Hi everyone,

We’ve had another very busy week in school.

Well done to the KS1 children who completed their phonics screening test this week. Thank you for all your support at home with reading and phonics.

Thank you to everyone who supported the Year 6 bake sale. They raised over £150 which will go towards the Year 6 leavers’ treat. I heard the cakes were delicious but sadly I was out of school that day so missed tasting them!

Remember…it is school photos day on Tuesday 20th. All children will need to come to school in uniform. If they have PE on Tuesday, they should bring their PE kit to change into after their photos.

Have a great weekend.

Attendance and punctuality

Well done to Birch class who had the highest attendance this week.

Willow  98.3%

Birch  100%

Maple   92.6%

Rowan  93.6%

Oak      94.5%

We monitor attendance rigorously and, where we have concerns about a child’s attendance, parents will be contacted to offer support. Where attendance does not improve, parents may be contacted by the Education Welfare Officer at Shropshire Council. Please try to avoid arranging non-urgent medical appointments for your child during term-time; there are 190 school days leaving 175 days when children are not in school. Thank you.

Next week, we are introducing our new ‘On Time’ punctuality initiative. Every child who is in school by 8:45 am will receive a raffle ticket. All tickets (with children’s names on) will go into a draw to win a voucher. If children arrive on time all 5 days, they will receive 5 raffle tickets so the better their punctuality the more chance they have of winning a prize at the end of the week.

School Photos 20th June

The photographers are in school on Tuesday 20th June. Younger siblings who do not attend nursery can have their photo taken with siblings who attend our school and nursery.  This will be before the start of the school day in the Hall from 8:15 onwards – please do not arrive earlier.

Children in school and nursery will be taken to the Hall during the morning to have individual and class photos, as well as with their siblings who are in school/nursery.

If you have a child in nursery but they do not attend on Tuesdays, you can bring them to the Hall before the start of the day to have their photo taken.

We are aware that this is the same date as the Year 5 open morning at The Corbet School. We will do our very best to make sure that your child has their photo taken if they are out at The Corbet during the morning.

The school office have sent a message out on Class Dojo about parents needing to pre-register to view photos.
