Weekly News 08.12.23

Hi everyone,

We have had another busy week in school and the children have been working really hard in their Christmas play rehearsals. Thank you for your support with costumes, and helping children to learn lyrics for songs or scripts if they have a speaking part.

We look forward to seeing you next week at the performances on Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th. Thank you for the donations received for the tickets for the KS2 performances. This is much appreciated and will be used to cover the costs of the KS2 performances and to buy art resources for next term.

FOBS Raffle

We have more tickets available at the office for the FOBS raffle, if you want to purchase more tickets. Please return all stubs, monies and any unsold tickets by Friday 15th December.

Letters sent out this week – updates

Christmas events update 05.12.23. We will send a message out on Class Dojo next week about our return time from the pantomime on Friday. It will be earlier than 5:00 pm, as orginally thought, and we will confirm the time once we have spoken to the coach company on Monday.

Choir letter for a group of children involved. Children in Rowan class who are part of the choir will not need to bring PE kit on Thursday as they will be singing at The Coppice instead. Parents are welcome to watch the choir singing at The Co-op on Tuesday 19th.

I hope you have a lovely weekend.

Co-op Christmas Decorations

It’s that time of year again, when the Bicton Heath Co-op invite children to make a decoration for their in-store Christmas tree with the chance to win a prize.  If your child would like to take part, please collect a wooden slice from the school office. Please return your child’s entry to the school office, by the end of the school day on Wednesday 13th December.

Christmas shop donations

Thank you for the amazing response to our Christmas gift shop. We still have a few gifts for sale so the shop will be open again next week until everything is sold!

Worship Committee Visit to Montford Church

Our Worship Committee spent a wonderful morning at Montford Church, exploring inside and outside the church.  They viewed the beautiful diorama, created thier own artwork and even learnt to play the handbells. Click the link below to see how quickly they picked it up – this was filmed just 10 minutes after they were introduced to the handbells!

Worship Committee 08.12.23

We are hoping this group of children will be able to come along to the Bicton Church Carol Service on Sunday 17th to play for the community.

Thank you to Reverend Hannah, Andrina, Tricia and Janet for such a lovely morning 🙂

Christingle Service

Thank you poster Ch.Soc.2023

We received the following message from the organisers of the Christingle Service at The Abbey which was lovely to hear – very well done Oak class and thank you to everyone who donated and purchased cakes.

“Please thank your pupils for making their Christingles, for their readings and prayers and for their excellent behaviour.  It was a delight to host them in the Abbey.”

Leaton Christmas Tree Festival

Dear Friends around Severn Loop,

The trees have arrived, and we are almost ready! Please can I warmly invite you along to our Christmas Tree Festival at Leaton Church – all of our trees have been decorated by community groups, and throughout the festival there will be refreshments and music.
Do come along – the church will be open from 10am-4pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday (8th-10th December). Drop in any time – there is no charge, but any cash donations will be split between the church and the Lingen Davies Cancer Centre.
Our festival will culminate in a celebration service at 4pm on Sunday, where we will be welcoming Bishop Alistair Magowan (Assistant Bishop in the Diocese of Lichfield).
We’re very grateful to Leaton Forest (just across the road from the church) for donating our trees – thank you.
Advent Blessings,
Hannah x

Private tutoring

We are aware that children in some schools receive support outside school with a private tutor. If you currently use or are considering using the services of a private tutor, we urge you to check that they have the appropriate credentials and safer recruitment checks in place. Thank you.
