Weekly News 07.07.23

Hello everyone,

Sports Day Thank You

Thank you for the fantastic support at Sports Day yesterday. It was great to see so many family members there and it made it all the more special for the children. The weather was perfect and so was the children’s attitude and resilience – we are very proud of each and everyone one of them!

I will upload a gallery of photos over the weekend once I have gone through the hundreds of photos taken!

Thank you to FOBS for their hard work and giving up their time to provide refreshments.

School Photos

Thank you for the feedback received about this year’s school photos. We have fed this back to the company.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Safer School Reaccreditation

Thank you to everyone who responded to the recent Safer School survey. We were delighted with the positive responses and suggestions, and these were shared and discussed at our annual Safer School meeting with the Local Authority. See below for an overview of the survey results.

Safer School Parent_Carer Survey 2023

Some of our Year 5 pupils attended the meeting and, as well as sharing their ideas, they have been given the task of creating some new car park signs to address some of the responses. Keep an eye out next term for their posters!

As part of the accreditation, we also survey pupils. This year, just Years 4 to 6 responded and you can see their responses below.

Safer Schools Pupil Survey 2023

The full responses to Questions 10 and 11 are below, so you can see what the children said.

Safer Schools Pupil Survey 2023 Question 11 responses

We will be addressing any concerns children and parents raised through our Safer School action plan.

Our very own ‘Number hero!’

Earlier this year, National Numeracy Ambassador Bobby Seagull invited children across the UK to show them all the different ways they will use numbers when they grow up. The organisers saw everything from scientists to sunbathers, deep-sea divers to dentists, and even a trampolinist or two!

There were six categories with prize bundles of maths resources worth over £1,000 for each winner’s school.

You may be wondering what that has to do with Bicton…

Well, we are over the moon to announce that Isaac T from Birch class not only entered (in his own time)…he was one of the 6 winners!

Click here to see Isaac’s brilliant entry. Well done Isaac – we are so proud of you and very excited to be receiving such amazing prizes for our school!

Once the prizes arrive, we will make sure that Isaac has his photograph taken with everything. 🙂

Year 5/6 swimming

Year 5 and 6 will have a double swimming session at Oswestry Leisure Centre on Friday 14th July, to make up for the session they missed on Friday 7th.
