Head of School Message
Dear parents/carers,
We’ve reached the end of the first full week in school! Thank you again for your patience and support with last week’s school closure, hopefully Spring is on the way soon.
We have had a really busy and exciting week.
On Monday, our Young Voices group travelled to Birmingham with Mrs Gairy and Miss Merricks to take part in a performance with thousands of other children at the BP Pulse Arena. They had a fabulous time and despite not returning home until midnight, they were ready and raring to go(ish!) for school on Tuesday, showing fantastic resilience and enthusiasm.
Year 5 children enjoyed Bikeabililty sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday – we are really proud of the perseverance they all showed.
On Wednesday, we celebrated some great sporting success at dodgeball, with Year 4 representing Bicton at the Corbet school. Then on Thursday, a group of Year 5 and 6 children enjoyed a netball development day at Shrewsbury Sports Village, gaining valuable skills and experience to hopefully help them all in their sporting journeys.
We also welcomed iRock, who came into school to perform and showcase their offer for our children. If you would like to enrol your child, please see the link in this newsletter for further information.
Looking ahead, we have our SIAMs inspection next Thursday, and we are really excited to showcase our vision and values in action across the school. Thank you in advance for your continued support with this.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Vision in Action
Huge congratulations to Alex in Year 5 who has been working hard to achieve his level 3 NICAS in climbing – the equivalent to a GCSE in climbing! He really enjoys problem solving on the indoor walls and is keen to explore outdoor climbing now. Well done Alex!

Netball development day
A small group of children from Oak class attended a netball development day at Shrewsbury sports village. During the morning, children completed a number of bee netball activities and enjoyed some friendly match play in the afternoon.
Year 4 Dodgeball
A group of Year 4 children travelled to the Corbet School on Wednesday to take part in a Dodgeball tournament. They were excellent ambassadors for our school and had a thoroughly enjoyable morning finishing in 6th place. Well done Year 4!

Polar Bear
Some of the children explored mark making by texture using forks to paint a polar bear. They experimented with different strokes and patterns, developing fine motor skills and control. Then added the polar bears facial features using newspaper shapes and black card.
A lovely activity using a combination of paint and collage.
FOBs News!
Hello again from FOBS.
We wanted to update you in regards to our fundraising last term. We managed to raise a total of £811.42 over the three events. Again, thank you to everyone involved and for all contributions, as that is a really great total. Money raised will go towards equipment for the school playground.
We are hoping to organise an event for World book day in March. If you have any children’s books (any ages) that you no longer require, please would you consider donating them to us for a book sale? Any books can be left at school reception please. Thank you in advance.
