Head of School Message

Dear parent/carers,

It was lovely to welcome so many of you into school this week for our parent consultations. Thank you for taking the time to meet with teachers and celebrate all the fantastic progress the children are making. If you have not yet had the chance to see your child’s class teacher, please contact the school office and we will happily arrange this. Don’t forget that class pages on our website contain an overview of this term’s learning.

We’re excited for our Junior Parkrun Takeover this Sunday and hope to see lots of our families there. Please do stop by our refreshments stall and join us in cheering everyone on.

A reminder that our PE dance performances will take place next Thursday at 2.30pm, followed by the school disco straight after school until 5.30pm. Children attending Bicton Buddies that evening will be taken to the disco if they would like to attend, and there is no need to purchase a separate ticket.

The children have thoroughly enjoyed our Give Racism the Red Card today and we have raised a brilliant £180 for the charity! Thank you for all of your support.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Mavin

Art – Responding to music

This week, we continued exploring the connection between art and music! The children experimented with adding colour to their creations, bringing their artwork to life and exploring how colour can reflect the sounds, rhythms and emotions they hear. It’s been wonderful to see their creativity develop as they bring music to life through art!

RE – Reflecting on what we have learnt about the sacred places of different religions.

This week, we have been reflecting on what we have learnt about the sacred places of different religions. We have explored how these special places are used for worship and why they are important to the people who visit them.

Oak Class Updates

This week in RE, the children explored the Hindu beliefs of samsara (the cycle of rebirth) and moksha (freedom from this cycle) through a fun game of Snakes and Ladders. As they played, the ladders represented good actions, positive choices and a deeper understanding of Hindu beliefs, helping players move closer to achieving moksha. The snakes represented actions that could move a person further away from this goal. The activity helped the children develop their understanding of how Hindus believe a person’s actions and understanding can influence their journey towards moksha.

In History, the children have continued their learning about the invasion of Britain by different groups of invaders. They have been exploring who these invaders were, why they came to Britain, and the impact they had on the country, helping to build a deeper understanding of how Britain has been shaped over time.
