Head of School Message

Dear parents/carers,

The classrooms have been full of music this week as the children have been practising hard for the Harvest Service on Wednesday 7th October.  We hope to see lots of you there at Bicton Church from 9.30am!  A big thank you for all of the harvest donations received so far for our donation to Shrewsbury Food Hub.  There is still time to drop off a non-perishable food/toiletry item in the school lobby before Wednesday!

We kicked off our sporting achievements this year with a netball tournament at the Corbet School for a group of Y6 pupils.  They came SECOND out of eleven teams and were unbeaten until the semi-finals! They played wonderfully as a team and worked hard to both defend and attack.  Well done!

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Mavin

Journalists in action!

This week, Oak class stepped into the role of reporters, interviewing Annie Edson Taylor and asking questions to gather information for their newspaper articles. The role play helped bring this incredible story to life while developing their questioning and writing skills!

Birch class learning update

Birch class has been practicing how to add 3 1-digit numbers by using ten frames and part whole models.

We have also been investigating number using place value charts.

In art we have been exploring the use of charcoal, so far we have created cave paintings and we have explored still life art.

In Science we have been learning about forces and magnets. We conducted an experiment, where we were trying to work out the force it took to move an object over surfaces with different amounts of friction. We found out the smoother the surface, the less friction and the easier it was to pull the object.

We also investigated how much force it took to lift different objects.
