Sports Day Classes 1, 2 & 3

Please could children in Classes 1, 2 & 3 come to school tomorrow morning wearing their P.E. kit (including their relevant coloured t-shirt) ready for Sports Day.

Please remember to send your child with a hat and drink and ensure they have sun cream applied if the weather is warm.

Many thanks.

Planting beans

This week Class 1 planted beans and will be using their mathematical skills over the next few weeks to measure how tall they grow. They also made ‘giant’ castles and planted these in their pots to see how far their beanstalks reach.

In the woods

This week when Class 1 went to the woods we used our story focus on ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ to collect leaves and describe them.  Then the children worked in small groups to sort the leaves into groups using a Venn diagram.   Some children were asked to sort the leaves into more groups.

Class 1 PE

This term Class 1 will be playing tennis outside as part of our PE lessons.  As the weather is getting warmer please can you ensure your child brings in suncream, a sun hat and a water bottle for these lessons.

Also when they come into school on a Friday morning they can come into class straight away to get changed into their PE kit.  Once they have changed they will need to put their school clothes in their locker and go outside as normal until the bell rings.

Many thanks, Mrs Thomas

Class 1 homework

Please can all Class 1 children bring in a book that is special to them on Friday so they can talk about it with the rest of the class.

Many thanks

Mrs Thomas

Book bag system

As some of you may have noticed this morning, to save a little time we have changed the system for the book bags.

Your child can now put their own book bag straight into their tray.

If there is a note in their home-link book for us to read, please put the book into the red basket next to the trays. If you have something for the office, for example dinner money or a form, please ensure that this is in a named envelope and put it in the green basket.

Any questions please don’t hesitate to ask.

Thank you!

Mrs L Conde

In the woods

This morning Class 1 went to the woods….they listened to the story of ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ and then worked in pairs to freeze frame one of the scenes from the story.  Some even managed to have a go at doing more freeze frames.  They were asked to think carefully about their body language and facial expressions to get in the role of the characters – there were some very convincing faces!

Class One Teddy Bear’s Picnic Tuesday 5th May

Hi Everyone

On Tuesday 5th May, we are hoping to visit the woods for a Teddy Bear’s Picnic in the afternoon. We will be taking fairy tale books to read, such as Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Little Red Riding Hood.

Children are invited to bring in one teddy bear of their choice from home.

We would be most grateful of any donations of picnic finger food/snacks, such as  savoury / sweet biscuits, crisps, fruit, carrot sticks, marshmallows, mini sausages, sausage rolls, cheese rolls, mini pizza bites, buns, cakes etc. (A few of the children in Class One wrote a list of food that they would hope for at the picnic!)

We won’t need sandwiches thank you as the children will have already had their lunch at school.

Please could any donations be brought into school on the morning of Tuesday 5th May.

Thank you very much,

Mrs Conde

Class 1 homework

For our science work this week Class 1 will be  looking at battery operated appliances and the different types of batteries used to operate them.  Please can children bring in a battery operated object (with the batteries included) by Friday please.  Examples could be an alarm clock, radio, calculator, remote control, toys etc.

Please don’t hesitate to ask for any further help with this.

Many thanks,

Mrs Thomas
