Class 5 Half-Term Homework

DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY HALF-TERM HOMEWORK

To be brought into School for Monday 2nd June

smoothie

Your task for half-term is to design the label for your healthy drink and find a suitable bottle in which to present it. You can use ICT or hand-draw the label and you should think about the following:

• needs to be bold and eye-catching

• name of the drink needs to stand out/be clear

• ingredients need to be listed

• health benefits of the ingredients mentioned e.g. contains natural sugars or no artificial colours

• label needs to be the right size for your bottle

You do not have to print it off at home – you can bring it in to school on a memory stick or email it to me and I will print it, if you wish.

If you have any questions, email me on my normal email address – please don’t forget to do your homework, as I’m really looking forward to seeing your design!

Weekly News 27.05.14

P.D. Day change

Our calendar has been updated to show a change to our planned P.D. days in order to fall in line with a change made by The Corbet School. The original date of Friday 24th October 2014 has now been changed to Monday 3rd November.

Home-link books

As mentioned previously, please could you remember to write a note in your child’s home-link book regarding clubs and the bus. We are still having to ring home to find out if children are staying to clubs and if they are travelling home on the bus or being collected.

Dental appointments

Unless it is for emergency treatment, please could children’s dental appointments be made for outside of the school day to prevent children from missing time in school.

YEAR 6s – Bikeability

Year 6s please remember your bikes and helmets for the first day back on Monday 2nd June.  If the sun decides to make a reappearance, please also remember to apply sun cream before coming to school and wear suitable clothing as explained in your previous letter. Due to your session times, it might be easier for you to bring a packed lunch on Monday and Tuesday but a school lunch will still be provided if you wish.

Thanks for your support and I hope you enjoy the half term break!

Mrs Natalie Johnson

Mr Fone

It is with sadness that we inform you that Mr Fone has passed away who was head teacher at Bicton CE Primary School many years ago.  His funeral will be held at Bicton Church on Friday 6th June at 11.00 a.m.

Class 4 Superstars Competition

Some children from Class 4 represented Bicton at a sports competition at Thomas Adams School on Monday. They competed against some other primary schools in different sporting activities. All the children worked really hard and came in 5th place. Well done for all your hard work and excellent behaviour!

Class 1 went to the woods

Last week Class 1 went to the woods as part of our ‘Growing’ topic.  They were looking at and naming the different parts of a plant as well as naming some of the plants they saw.  They had lots of fun exploring the different plants in the woods and were very enthusiastic to show us what they had found.

Sorry for the delay in uploading the photos, here are some  from our visit…

Summer Footwear

As the weather gets warmer, children may want to wear sandals for school. To prevent children tripping over at playtimes, please could you ensure that the front of your child’s sandals are not excessively loose and also that socks are worn with all footwear.

Children are not permitted to wear flip flops/slip on shoes but Crocs may be worn providing the ankle strap is around the heel and secure.

Any queries, please do not hesitate to ask.

Sainsburys Vouchers

Sainsbury's Active Kids Vouchers
We will be sending the Sainsburys order off this Friday so, if you still have any Sainsburys vouchers, please could you send them in by Friday morning.

Many thanks for all the vouchers sent in so far.
