Head of School Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

We are now at the end of our second full week of the new school year, and it’s been a joy to see how quickly children have settled into their routines. Classrooms are already full of learning, laughter, and the positive energy that makes our Bicton community so special.

There have been lots of prospective parents visiting school this week in preparation for choosing a school for their child. We would really appreciate your recommendations of our school to family/friends to help our numbers continue to grow.

This half term, we are focusing on the value of perseverance – encouraging our children to keep going, even when things get tough. Whether it’s learning a new skill, solving a tricky problem, or being a good friend, we are proud of how our pupils are showing resilience and determination every day.

Thank you for your continued support. Have a restful weekend.

Loop Explorers
We are delighted that we can now offer a midweek group for primary school-aged children, two Thursdays a month, 4.30pm-5.30pm at Bicton Church. It is particularly for children who would value time to explore their faith, make friends and learn more about the Bible. Each session, we’ll do practical and interactive activities that are linked to a theme, share news and have a short time of prayer and worship. We’ll spend some time in the church, and some outside- engaging with the natural world.
We have spaces for ten children- please do let us know if your child would like to come  (email Hannah at revhannahlins@gmail.com). The dates for the coming term are:
2nd October
16th October
6th November
20th November
4th December
18th December

Head lice

Head lice are a common issue in primary schools, and they can spread quickly among children, particularly when they are in close contact during playtime or group activities. While head lice do not pose a serious health threat, they can be a nuisance and cause discomfort for your child.

Regular checks of your child’s hair are essential for early detection and prevention of head lice infestations. Please take a few minutes to thoroughly inspect your child’s hair for any signs of lice, such as:

  • Itching or scratching of the scalp
  • Visible lice or eggs (nits) attached to the hair
  • Red bumps or sores on the scalp

If you discover that your child has head lice, it’s essential to take prompt action to treat the infestation and prevent it from spreading to other children.

We maintain strict confidentiality regarding cases of head lice, and your cooperation is vital in helping us ensure a healthy learning environment for all students.

To further reduce the risk of head lice infestations, please encourage your child to avoid sharing hats, hairbrushes, and other personal items with their friends. Additionally, remind them to avoid close head-to-head contact during playtime and group activities.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our school community healthy and happy.
