Hello everyone,
There is a lot of information in today’s newsletter so I apologise in advance! As well as providing updates from school and nursery, I am trying to share things from different organisations which you may find useful.
As you will already be aware, schools will not fully ‘re-open’ after half term and the earliest that more children may be able to attend school is from Monday 8th March. In the meantime, I would just like to say thank you for all your support and to remind you that you are doing an incredible job!
Half term
The Department for Education (DfE) has confirmed that schools will close as usual during the February half term and are not expected to remain open to vulnerable children and the children of critical workers, as happened in last year’s lockdown.
However, I will be on-call during half term for contact tracing purposes so please let me know if your child develops symptoms within 48 hours of last being in school or nursery i.e. if they become unwell on Sunday 14th February and then test positive for COVID, I need to be informed immediately. I will send a reminder out next Friday of what steps parents need to take and how to contact me.
I am aware that some parents have phoned 119 to try to book a test for their child and have been told the symptoms do not require their child to have a test. It appears that the 119 call handlers are not always aware that some Councils have asked their residents to book a test if they have other symptoms, as shown in the poster below. Where possible, I recommend you book a test via the government website and I have copied the details below of what you need to select when doing so.

When completing the form, in the section “Why are you getting tested?”, you need to select:
This section on the website is quite a few pages in, after you have selected that your child does not have one of the three main symptoms, so please don’t give up and think that you aren’t eligible to book a test.
Wellbeing Wednesday gallery
Thank you for sending in photos of what your child did on Wednesday afternoon. It seems to have been very much needed and we’ve loved seeing and hearing what children and families did to look after their wellbeing. Here’s a taste of what some of our children got up to at home and in school!
