Speak Out Stay Safe Online Assembly – Tuesday 23rd February

We have been informed today that the NSPCC are delivering a Speak out Stay safe virtual assembly on Facebook at 10am on Tuesday 23rd February.

They have special celebrity appearances from Ant and Dec and David Walliams, and their assembly helps children understand the importance of talking about their worries, and how Childline can support them. The NSPCC are hoping this will be a fun yet really informative opportunity for schools and parents home schooling alike.

Weekly News 19.02.21

Hello everyone

I hope you’ve had a good week and managed to dodge the showers to get out for some fresh air.

Did any of you watch the Mars landing last night? We got quite excited watching it in my house! With everything the world has faced over the last year, I can’t think of a better name for the Nasa rover than ‘Perseverance.’

As one of our school values, perseverance is definitely something that our pupils, families and staff have shown, especially over recent weeks. I know I keep saying it but you really are amazing!

With the Mars landing in mind, I’ve uploaded a free e-Book below all about space, which children may enjoy.

News from Severn Loop and Mary-Lou
Dear Friends

This week we have something slightly different for you – there is no new Loop, instead you have the weekly readings and reflection as usual and ‘A Cross for Lent’.   This is part of our continuing encouragement to everyone in being the ‘Church at Home’ through these continuing weeks and months of restrictions.

A Cross for Lent 2021     21 Feb Readings & Reflection

Sunday Worship

All the usual things are still happening.  See last week’s Loop for details.  In addition, here is your link to this Sunday’s new online worship for the 1st Sunday in Lent:

Pyjama Church will be on from 9.30am on Sunday, at www.trinitychurches.org. This week our theme is Jesus in the Desert, and the drama comes from a real desert place!

For now, sending you all my thoughts, prayers and love ~

And finally…

Next week, we will let you know our plans for World Book Day on Thursday 4th March and hopefully we will have more of an idea of what lies ahead for schools for the coming weeks.

Take care and stay safe.

Show The Love – Climate Change campaign

Inspired by the WI in Bicton village, after seeing their lovely handmade green hearts everywhere, Bella in Year 6 has been joining in with the Show the Love campaign run by The Climate Coalition.

Why not have a go at making a green heart over the next few days like Bella? If you do get chance to make one, please send me a photo and I’ll upload them to to the website for everyone to enjoy! 💚

News from Severn Loop

Dear Friends,

Have you scoffed plenty of pancakes?! I hope that you enjoy them to the full today…
As you know, we enter into the season of Lent tomorrow. We have a number of opportunities for you to join us in worship to mark Ash Wednesday:
Ash Wednesday Eucharist
Here is the link- we are suggesting a focus time of 11.30am, when we would normally have our service at Bicton, but it is of course available any time:
All-Age Ash Wednesday Service
This is hosted by Pyjama Church, and is available from 9.30am. We suggest you have something to make a cross with, some ash or earth, and a pen and paper. The link is:
Facebook Live – Trinity Churches or afterwards at Trinity Churches Shrewsbury – Home | Facebook. You don’t need to be on Facebook to access it.
Home Group evening Zoom, 7pm
Fr. Peter will be leading us in a discussion – do get in touch with him directly if you would like an invitation.
24/7 Prayer
People around the Loop will be committing to praying in shifts for 24 hours from 8pm on Wednesday. We will be doing this in our own homes. You can simply set aside some time to pray, but if you would like some resources or more information about the theme – Worshipping in the Wilderness – then do contact Philippa Herbert.
With love and blessings,
Hannah x

Thank you for sharing your Wednesday afternoon photos with us. It’s wonderful to see so many of you getting out and enjoying the fresh air even though it was very chilly! And just in case you were wondering…Isaac was missing his friends and school so much he decided to wear his school uniform whilst he is at home! 🙂

Please feel to share any photos of half term with us when we return to school.

Thank you from Nursery

We used part of the funds raised from our Christmas gift shop to purchase some new play food for nursery. The children and staff have asked me to say THANK YOU on their behalf to everyone who bought a gift and helped to raise these funds. 🙂

Message from Shropshire Council – funding available to help our most vulnerable residents

If someone is told by NHS Test and Trace Service to stay at home and self-isolate, they may be able to get a £500 Test and Trace Support Payment. For the qualifying conditions and to apply, see here: https://www.shropshire.gov.uk/benefits/what-help-can-i-claim-from-the-council/covid-test-and-trace-support-payments/

Sometimes, this may not be enough to address all of the problems and not everyone will qualify so whether eligible for this or not, we urge people to think about applying for our other discretionary help as well.

For our more vulnerable households, either affected financially by Covid or just struggling to meet essential bills over lockdown and over winter, we have other Hardship Funds that can help with a wide range of need. These grants are open to anyone in difficulty, it is not necessary for benefits to be in payment.

We want to get this money to those Shropshire householders, especially families with children, who are struggling financially. It is easy to apply over the phone (a paper form is available on request), an adviser will complete the paperwork and a specialist will look to see how we can help and if any further information is needed.

So if you, or someone you know, is having difficulty meeting essential outgoings, call us on 0345 678 9078.

People can also access these grants and a range of other Covid related support through our web pages here: https://www.shropshire.gov.uk/coronavirus/information-for-the-public/ or via our Covid helpline on 0345 678 9028.

And finally…

Please stay safe and look after yourselves.

Love Mrs Johnson x
