News from Mary-Lou, Severn Loop

Dear Friends

Well, the situation with the pandemic is looking so much better, and I read yesterday that the level of infection in Shropshire is now the lowest in the West Midlands area AND below the national average!  So things are looking very positive for us being able to begin re-opening for public worship on Palm Sunday.  You can read all about that and find a list of the services from Palm Sunday through Holy Week to Easter Day in the Loop.  Please do book places at church for these services by contacting your churchwarden(s) – we just don’t know how many people are likely to want to come, so to avoid difficulty or disappointment at this very special time of year, it’ll be such a help to know who is planning to come, as we’re still restricted by all the same social distancing regulations.

On Tuesday there is to be a national Day of Reflection, to mark the anniversary of the beginning of the first lockdown in 2020, you can find details of that in the Loop too.  There is also a special service planning for Holy Saturday, coming from Lichfield Cathedral on the same theme.

I hope this finds you in good heart, as we approach the 29 March, when the PM will announce whether the next phase of the roadmap can be unlocked. Let’s pray that things continue to go in the right direction so that the chance to meet up with loved ones outside becomes a reality again! We can pray too for the continued vaccine rollout, despite this week’s tensions and the news of how it will be affected in April by reduced supplies. Thank God that all those due to have their 2nd jabs will still be able to.  And pray too for the many poor countries of the world where vaccination has hardly started.  We are so blessed by the vaccine provision for us here in the UK, we give thanks, while not forgetting that there are still many, many challenges arising from the pandemic for individuals and families across the nation, and praying about those.

So, as we approach that point in the year (next weekend!) when the clocks go forward, we can have a greater sense of hope that we’ve had for some time.  Officially now there is more light than darkness each day!  Spring is happening around us, and the most precious part of the year for Christians is almost with us.  There is so much for which to give thanks.

God’s blessing be with you, and all those you love and pray for,  today and always ~

Mary-Lou x

Red Nose Day – Friday 19th March

This Friday 19th March is Red Nose Day.  Children are invited to come to school wearing something Red or something that makes them happy!

We ask children NOT to bring Red Noses this year

To avoid any cash donations coming into school, we have set up a JustGiving page instead. If you are able to make £1.00 donation that would be great. The link to the JustGiving page is:

www.justgiving.com/fundraising/bicton-ce-primary-school-shrewsbury1

Thank you in advance for your support.

URGENT MESSAGE 16.03.21

We are aware that some of our pupils and parents are visiting Bicton village park outside school hours and this includes children from different bubbles. In school, we go to great lengths to keep our bubbles separate to keep pupils, staff and families safe.

The last thing we want is for a bubble, let alone multiple bubbles, to have to close. Please stick to the rules and do not mix with families outside of your support bubble.

Thank you

Weekly Newsletter 12.03.21

Hello everyone,

It has been wonderful to have all of our children back in school and nursery this week. The smiles on both children’s and parents’ faces on Monday morning was amazing to see! I would like to welcome our new families and look forward to getting to know you and your child.

COVID-19 School Measures – reminder

COVID reminder – rules and expectations 12.03.21

The above letter has been given to children in school and nursery today, in case you do not receive emails from the school website. In line with this, please see the press release from Shropshire Council below and the following video.

https://newsroom.shropshire.gov.uk/2021/03/plea-parents-ahead-pupils-return/

The first part of the video relates to secondary but a lot of the information relates to our school.

Happy Mother’s Day

Love from Nursery

Thank you to our Nursery staff for putting this heartwarming video together last week – I’m sure it will make you smile as much as it did me and I hope all our mums, nans and grandmothers (and anyone I’ve forgotten!) have a very happy Mother’s Day!

The video is also included along with some artwork from Hazel class, in Severn Loop’s Mothering Sunday worship below.

Comic Relief – Friday 19th March

Next Friday is Comic Relief day. We are not able to hold a cake sale, as we have in previous years, but children can come to school/nursery wearing red and we ask for a donation of £1 per child for the charity.

Book Week (instead of World Book Day on 4th March)

We are organising an exciting week of literacy-inspired activities on the last week of term, ending in a dressing up day on Thursday 1st April. Details of the competitions which children can enter will follow next week.

And finally…

I hope you have a lovely weekend and I look forward to seeing all the children again on Monday x
